2023 Community Giving Recap

As 2023 draws to a close, it's time to take a moment and look back at the challenges and triumphs that have marked this year. We, at Dufresne, are committed to not only acknowledging the hardships within our communities but also spotlight the uplifting stories.

As a past, current, or future customer, you play a big role in helping to create positive change around us. Our philosophy revolves around the belief in purposeful consumption and intentional giving. It's not just about transactions; it's about the impact those transactions create.

Building Communities Up

Habitat For Humanity

Habitat For Humanity provides affordable homes to hardworking families in our communities. Along with affordable mortgage rates, they allow homeowners to put in "sweat equity" where they're able, to build a community that pays it forward.

This year, we had employees come together to build energy-efficient, affordable homes for our community. Along with building Habitat Homes, Dufresne donated $20,000 in energy-efficient appliances so that 13 families in Manitoba will have brand-new dishwashers and laundry pairs in their homes.

Reading for a Cause

Children's Hospital Book Market

Dufresne has worked in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital Book Market since 1994. Every area of our operations, from marketing and stores to warehouse and delivery, helps to provide a better life for children across Canada.

In addition to collecting books at our Manitoba stores, Dufresne has donated $10,000 to support the Children's Hospital and $40,000 of in-kind services to raise awareness to the book market.

The Gift of Sleep

Dream Big

In 2023, the Dufresne Dream Big Program partnered with three incredible organizations to help give the gift of sleep to those in need. This year, we donated just under 200 beds to people without in communities across Canada.

Dream Day

The return of the Dream Big Dream Day came back in a big way in 2023! This year, with the help of 20 dedicated Dufresne volunteers and three community partners, we were able to make 30 dreams come true.

During this special event, 30 kids from Sleep in Heavenly Peace Winnipeg and their families were invited to Investors Group Field for a jam-packed day filled with fun gifts, games, giant inflatable obstacle courses, skeeball, cornhole, and a private pizza party. The kids got to play alongside a few Blue Bombers, cheerleaders, and mascots throughout the day and it ended it all off with a surprise of a brand new bed for every child.
