Dufresne carries nearly 600 Canadian-made pieces across the store, and behind that number is a real mix of Canadian manufacturers, each with their own history. From the mattress in your bedroom to the chairs around your dining table, here's what's actually behind the Canadian-made tag.
Canadian-Made Mattresses and Foundations
Mattresses and foundations make up the largest single part of the selection, and Springwall is one of the names behind it. Springwall is a 100% Canadian-owned and operated mattress manufacturer, with facilities in Calgary, Mississauga, and Moncton, and headquarters just outside of Moncton, New Brunswick. Well-known and reputable brands like Serta, Beautyrest, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Kingsdown, Tempur-Pedic, and Quiet Loft round out the rest of the Canadian-made mattress lineup at Dufresne.
Canadian-Made Living Room Furniture
Sofas, sectionals, loveseats, and recliners built in Canada include pieces from Elran, a Montreal-based manufacturer founded in 1967 as Canada's first company to specialize solely in reclining furniture. Elran later introduced the industry's first reclining loveseats and sofas, and today builds its seating to order at its own plant in Quebec. Décor-Rest, a Canadian upholstery manufacturer building sofas and sectionals in Ontario since 1972, and Sofa By Fancy, which has hand-built upholstered furniture at its own Mississauga facility since 1989, are also part of the Canadian-made living room lineup at Dufresne.
Canadian-Made Dining Room Furniture
Dining sets, tables, and chairs built domestically include pieces from Canadel, which has built dining furniture from solid North American birch in Louiseville, Quebec since 1982, with everything hand-assembled and hand-finished at its own factory. Bar stools built in Canada include pieces from Amisco, based in Quebec and family-owned by the Poitras family for three generations, specializing in steel furniture with over 65 years of metalworking experience.
Canadian-Made Bedroom Furniture
Beds and bedframes built in Canada include pieces from Julien Beaudoin, a family-owned manufacturer that has built bed frames, upholstered beds, platform beds, and adjustable bases at its own factory in Daveluyville, Quebec since 1963. Bedroom sets, dressers and mirrors, chests, and nightstands built domestically round out the Canadian-made bedroom lineup, alongside kids' beds, kids' bedroom sets, kids' dressers and mirrors, and kids' headboards.
Canadian-Made Wall Art
Wall art built in Canada includes pieces from Northwood Collection, a Toronto-based manufacturer of art, mirrors, and home decor for over 40 years, and Streamline Art, a Mississauga-based wall art manufacturer with a similar history in the business.
