Items To Splurge On

When do you save and when do you splurge?  It’s a common question for those that just moved into a new home or are currently renovating. There are some home items that are really worth the investment, while others can do without the high cost.  So where do you draw the line?

Your Lifestyle

Think about your lifestyle, the items you use often – essentially every single day.  These items will get worn through faster and will need to last longer to make them worthwhile.  These items can include your appliances or living room furniture.

If people sit on your sofa regularly, you’ll want one with quality upholstery so it can live through the constant movement and stay strong during the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

If you find you’re needing specialized laundry cycles like steam washing or heavy duty loads, it may benefit you, in the long run, to splurge on a laundry pair that offers these options. The same goes for your kitchen and dining area. If you come home with tons of groceries, tend to entertain over the holidays, or have a big family, it’ll be ideal to have appliances and furniture that can accommodate those things – especially since it’s something that likely won’t change.

Health Reasons

Your health is one of the most important aspects to consider.  When it comes to splurging, consider investing in a good mattress. This will help you get the sleep you need so you can stay happy and healthy. You spend 8 hours a day laying in bed – you might as well make it worth every sheep you count.

If you work from home or do a good portion of office work, it may be wise to look for a supportive office chair – especially if that’s where you spend a lot of time.  Sitting for long periods isn’t great for the body, so its best to make sure you’re getting the most support you can.

Accents

When it comes to accent décor, it may be best to save in this area.  Accents can change according to seasons, trends, or your own mood.  The last thing you want to do is recycle accents that haven’t shown their monetary worth yet. Unless you know it’s a piece that will stand the test of trendy time, leave yourself the option to switch out accents easily and as often as you’d like.
